BF 2 HAVING INSTALL PROBLEMS

I was going to install bf2 the other day, and when it starts to run install shield, at the very beginning, it just clicks off. Part of the box shows up, but then dissappears. I know it isn't the disc due to the fact I have tested it on my friends computer. I think maybe a corrupt or deleted file. I removed it before from my comp, and I think I may have missed some files and now it is causing problems. Any help would be appreciated. I already have tried to go into the registry and make srue I deleted all the files. Something is obviously lurking on the hd still

Thanks.

Do you have any open progs when installing? If so close them all including a firewall and virus scanner.

okay, just tried it, no luck. it brings up the menu that lets u click install. i clicked that and that started the installshield wizard. one pop-up loads completely really fast, then when another seems as though its about to, everything just goes away.

did you say, you had it installed before? If so, go to your programs file on your C drive, open up EA game folder and delete, if any, files associated with BF2. This may not solve your problem, as it sounds like a virus to me. what is your setup? Also, BF2 still isn't able to play on linux yet.

Someone else apparently had the same problem as you. The fix was to manually uninstall and then manually install the game. You have to follow the instructions in the link below. Look at the third post in this page from a guy named Starjax. He provides links to the EXACT processes for manually uninstalling and installing.

Well, it's EA's instructions, and they say if you don't follow them EXACTLY, it won't install correctly. I'd go back and re-read the steps, following them exactly as written; for example no spaces between Disk and the numbers (Disk1, Disk2, etc.), naming the folder "Disk Images".

Go back and read each instruction and verify that you have not missed anything. It's easy to quickly gloss over something and realize later that you didn't so something seemingly minor that screwed it up.

hey everyone. i think i figured out my prob. i was looking to clear out my raptor drive. so i went into program files, and tried to find some stuff to delete. one of the folder was an installshield folder. I clicked on that and it contained folders for different programs such as fear demo, bf2 demo, then i found a bf2 one, which had the same numbers as that link above said should be able to be deleted. I must have deleted the wrong one before. So now when i go to install, it seems to start find, i just need to clear off my raptor first. thanks a lot everyone.
