BF 1942 with dial up

How is this game on dial up?

I haven't played multiplayer in about a year when I was into counter strike, At that time I could manage with dial up, obviously I was at a disadvantage but it was still fun.

I hear all the buzz but was wondering if its pointless on dial up

Totally pointless. I have cable and even with a ping of approx 150ish, BF1942 will lag to hell and back. 100 or less ping is absolutely necessary IMO.

I haven't played on dial-up but I have to disagree with sandorski.
I've got cable and,
I've played servers with a 50 ping and had them be choppy as hell.
And I've played servers with a ping of 175 and had them be nice and smooth and not noticed any lag at all.

But it's hard to say because on dial-up you probably wont' get any servers pinging less than 200 or 250.
I would suggest you download the multiplayer demo and try it out.
It's a fully functional demo with one map to play. Actually the demo has one of the best maps in the game, Wake Island.
If you liked CS, you should really like BF, although it takes a bit of getting used. It's not a "put the crosshair on him and shoot" game. You have to lead your targets if they are moving, depending on how far away they are. I played MOHAA before BF so it took me awhile to get used to the aiming.

I noticed you have a Radeon 7500.
That card is a little weak for BF, but it should play fine if you turn down the details and resolution.

In addition to the possible problem with high pings, the other issue you might run into with dial-up is the lack of bandwidth. I'm not sure if it will be an issue or not, but playing on servers with fewer people might help.

But like I said, give it a try and see how it plays. Or pony up for cable or DSL.
