THe killer, even moreson than HD support is Divxx support....

jsut imagine.... AUTOMATIC, UNATTENDED transcoding of all your shows to divx, which encodes so much faster than wmv....mmm...they had to get rid of it for licensing reason and oh joy am I happy that they brought it nack:heart:

Meh, as a BTV3 user, I see no significant reason to upgrade.

Let me know what you think. I"m running 3.7, but am not sure if it is worth $30 to upgrade.

What rate does everyone else record at? I'm just using mpeg 2 at the 'good' rate 3900kbps

Anyone know of a really simple program that I can use to cut out commercials?

but this still doesn't have any of the media center functions does it, just straight tv and such, no music, videos, pictures...?

There are lots of them that aren't listed, such as wanting to help me pay rent :)

Its hard to appreciate some of the changes just in a feature list, but really its opened up the game to whole new levels of extensibility. If you do have any questions on SnapStream software, leave me a PM and I should be able to answer your questions.

Sage TV updated to version 4 as well. I think all of those features are included (maybe not directly from sage, but user plug ins can do divx encoding) and they finally released studio...

I may try out btv4 just for comparison and to see if it is any better...I absolutely hated btv3.

That's like saying, "I only have one radio in my house because I want my radio to have the best quality!"

Out of the box, I'd say its better, but I do know this comes down a lot to a matter of opinion. I did do a quick test of the HD handling (playback*, recording, etc) and my opinion is that Beyond TV 4 does it better.

*Playback in terms of being able to play a transport stream recording coming from anywhere, BTV, MCE, Sage, Meedio, someone's firewire pull from a cable box, partiall corrupt streams, streams with incorrect PATs, switching between available substreams, etc.
