Beyond the Sea

I saw "Beyond the Sea" directed/starring Kevin Spacey. It was a good movie. Not as much angst as Ray but quite good with the surreal/symbolism. Song and dance is great, with witty humor! Kevin Spacey sings all the songs instead of lip-synching, too. It was a clean movie (no strong violence or pornagraphy). I liked it. Kevin Spacey did a great job. Too bad it bombed in the Box Office. Probably not enough tragedy, although a bit (without too much tragedy it isn't as inspiring, but it is well done). It is about Bobby Darin. For all of you younguns or n00bs who don't know who that is, he sang "Splish Splash", "Mack the Knife", "Beyond the Sea"!

It was a great movie, I don't consider it all that far behind Ray either..even if I've never heard of Bobby Darin before.

Mom: Mack The Knife? They made a MUSICAL about Bobby Darin? That must be awful....

I think it flopped because nobody really cares about the life and times of Bobby Darin.

Nothing to do with Bobby Darin, but The Threepenny Opera returns to Broadway next year.

havent seen it, but i hear good things. spacey trying to add another statue to his mantle though? it seems playing a singer equals awards. foxx for ray, bassett for turner, and the rumors for pheonix as cash.

I've not actually seen it since it was in theaters, I reckon I could use another viewing with the GF, as I doubt she's ever seen it.
