Between both of these cards which one would you choose

I know i should choose the 512 version of the 880gt but I am on a budget. I only have to buy a psu with my budget too so I am quite limited.

Why is the 2600xt cost more than the 8800gt? I thought 8800gt bested the 2600xt.
