Better to have 1GB of RAM or 2GB with slower chips?

Here's my dilemma... I have 1GB of PC2700 or something in my AMD64 set up. I am upgrading to a 939 processor (instead of my 754), and I wanted to buy some new RAM and sell the old system complete as it's easier. The question is, if I buy 1GB of 3200 and then add the 1GB of 2700, it would obviously downclock (I think...), but is there a benefit to just having the single 1GB over the 2GB running slower? I am huge into gaming, so that's all I really care about.

Thanks!

my unqualified opinion says take the GB of faster RAM

if it were a case of 512->1024 i might reconsider...

If you're going to do it on an x64 OS, go 2GB's, but if on WinXP 32, go 1GB unless you play intense 3D games, then stop thinking so hard and go 2GB
You're going to upgrade to 2GB in the future anyway, might as well do it now

what's hot is if you can get Corsair XMS sticks with timings of 2-2-2-X, very hot...

I'll be running Windows XP 64bit edition... 2GB makes a difference with regard to the games? I generally never run out with my 1GB that I have now :)
