i get data corruption over 160fsb....its either the hdd or the controller....would a controller card (with a new hdd) get me around this? anyone with any exp on this??

at 160Mhz FSB you're pushing your luck with anything. I've had my 75GXP's on a RAID controller up to 175Mhz FSB, but I just consider that luck.

i wouldn't trust a controller card, it's the same crap as the onboard-controllers.
even if you don't oc, your data is in permanent danger due to the simple logic these controllers use.

i am aware there is a risk.....but people do run at insane speeds....i would like to knwo how it is done...

I have been running my system stable @ 166 for almost a year now, and have never experienced any problems at all.

ASUS CUV4X-DLS
Promise Ultra ata100 Controller Card
4 Maxtor 7200rpm 40.0 gig hds
1024mb Micron pc133 ram
Sb Live! Value
Kingston EthereX 100 nic
Radeon 8500DV
Win2k Sp2

Stable as a rock!

Nah. It doesn't matter weather you're using an On-Board or PCI card, they're both still devices on the overclocked PCI bus, won't really make a difference by using a PCI RAID or ATA/100 card.

I heard of people using the TX2 (I forget the manufacturer) for higher bus speeds because it was a 33/66MHz PCI card, and designed to handle 66MHz PCI bus. I dont remember it very well, though
