Better Than DVD Shrink

err, handbrake is a decent freeware encoder.
its ripping capabilities are limited.
i'm assuming you mean rip as in bypass copy protection and copy files to drive no?
if so, dvdfab decryptor is your only free option.
paid versions also work. also a pay version of anydvd will work. these two companies constantly put out new versions to fight off new dvd copy protection that breaks rippers. sony seems to come out with a new unripable dvd every couple months. course it gets cracked with a new version of the two i mentioned already. older rippers stopped working on many discs long ago

Concur with OrooOroo. DVD Decryptor is about as good as you can do for general ripping. I only use DVD Shrink after ripping to create a ISO file that will fit on a single DVD.

I have used DVD Shrink and also Dvdfab decryptor (free version) for several years. I first try DVD Shrink and it works about 90% of the time if it doesn't work I use Dvdfab decryptor to rip the Full Disc...Then Shrink to decrease its size. I have noticed Shrink is having a harder time with newer Discs. Also before burning I use FreeDVD to assure all protection is gone.
