If kept in a cool dry place with little light, is there a consensus on which will last longer or are they basicly the same technology
 
basically same length. There's sill air(oxygen) so your discs depending on quality may last you anywhere from 5-20 years.
 
Vacum Sealing then? Never thought of that. Wifey just got one of those vacum sealers. Make the back up and vacum pack it.
 
it will extend the life, but there's no way to get all the air out. It's probably better to use a HDD. Most manufacturers state that properly sotred, it would still work in 100 years.
