I just got this card so I can record some of my favorite shows and watch them later, but the quality of video really sucks. I was hoping to get at least TV quality, but it's not even close. Is there a way to get better performance from this card?

I can't say I have used Hauppage software in years, but the default recording quality on most PVR software is usually optomized for low disk usage rather than high quality so you might check the options.

I'm using the ones that my cable company gave me. I wouldn't even know where to get the "good cables" from.

I set the recording quality to DVD quality. I think it's 12mb/s. The playback quality of the recording is the same as the live tv quality which pretty much stinks.

How can you expect the recording to be better then the source? The best you can ask for is a duplicate of the video source nothing better...

I think he's refering to the fact that both live TV and recorded TV "on his PC with his card" suck, not that the recording PQ is = to the Source PQ.

hehe...I'm not expecting the recording to be better. I read lots of good things about this card, so my expectations of the live feed to be better. I was expecting the recording to be of similar quality as the live source.

Do you really think that this is a software issue, and not a hardware issue? I just thought that the Beyond TV and Sage only helped to simplify recording and "Tivo" like functions. Didn't think it did anything for the quality of video.
