Better Performance: Onboard USB2 vs. USB2 card??

I've been contemplating switching from the onboard usb controller on my NF7-S to a spare USB2 controller card I have around here somewhere, since I have interference coming through the integrated audio (would switch to my CM8738 sound card, but don't want to lose nvmixer equalizer).

I was wondering if I would possibly get a performance boost by switching to the card, or should I stick with the onboard for compatability?

There is no compatibility issue. You can use either or BOTH at the same time. Unless your onboard USB bus is 1.1 the add-on card (which I assume is USB 2.0) is not going to perform any better.

That said, some mobos use cheap USB chips and if you're having issues like USB devices that stop working for no reason, then the onboard card may work better.

Most USB problems are related to a defective USB device or hub, or drawing too much power from a USB port.

Well... The problem is definately interference from the USB port. I guess I might as well use the card, although I seem to remember having driver problems with it.
