Better official avatars

If we can't have custom avatars, we at least need better official avatars. Just about all of them look like they are from 1998. They need to be much less cartoonish.

I believe the trouble is that FuseTalk doesn't have any means of controlling them, as far as the type of uploaded avatar used (gif, jpeg or png), and how moderators can remove them if deemed inappropriate.

I believe vBulletin offers more control over uploaded avatars, but we'll see after this forum gets revamped. Not sure if the admins will enable the uploading of avatars then.

I think we offer the widest range possible in that you can upload your own - as long as it it appropriate.

Yes, and it is extremely easy to do if you know how.

Instructions:

Do a search for any image you like through Google/Bing/whatever.

Find the small images, usually there is a tab in newer browsers that lets you pick the size of the pics you look at.

Click through to the full size image of the picture via the See Full Size link.

Copy the address/link for the full size page.

Come back to AT, click on User CP in the blue bar at the top of your screen.

Click the Edit Avatar link on the left side of this page.

Scroll down to this text:
Option 1 - Enter the URL to the Image on Another Website

Paste the link/addy you copied into the box below that text and, if it sized appropriately, it will automatically change your avatar to this image.
