This 7600GT 256MB card is over $150 (its 161.57 that w/o shipping) but is not to bad of a deal for being AGP.

If you don't want to spend that much i recommend on getting a x1600Pro 256MB for 89.99 (thats AR before shipping).

The 7600GT does way out preform the x1600pro but it depends on how much you want to spend and what you need to run. I would really recommend on up grading to a pci-e because price / performance is way better because AGP is being deprecated.

To get something faster than a 6800GT you would need to spend more than $150. A 7600GT or a 7800GS

At this point you should just hold off for an entire upgrade (PCI-E Board with next gen graphics)
I was on the same boat as you; limited funds, an agp system, and a 6800 GT. What you should do? Buy a nice cooler for it, volt mod it to 1.5v, overclock the core to 450 mhz and the ram to 1.3 ghz and call it a day. 🙂

I'm serious though; my 6800gt is at that exact clockspeed. It plays any game fine atm.

Even a 7600gt will only be about 10-20% faster on average than a 6800gt, and it costs a bit more than $150. Plus, it's already a generation old, and will seem even more primitive when Nvidia releases a new lineup of g80-based cards, supposedly sometime in Feb. If you really want to stick with AGP, the only significant upgrade is the AGP x1950pro (coming soon...), but even so, you'd find better cards for less money in PCI-e form.

my sentiments exactly, its not worth upgrading as it is. juding from your rig, all you need is a board and video upgrade, maybe psu as well.

problem with 7800gs is it's not really much faster than a 6800GT, even with a good overclock (and they do overclock well). the 7600gt is also not much better than a sidegrade. it's a bit faster in some things, not quite as fast in others...

the only good upgrade would be the x1950pro AGP, but unfortunately it's not out yet, and it wouldn't fit in your budget. best to suffer a bit and save up some money for something that will be a noticedable upgrade, even if it would mean the hassle of moving to pci-e (where gpu price/performance is much better).
