Better Intel 3D Studio Max processor, Xeon or LGA P4?

Building a system for a friend and wants it to be used mostly for 3D Studio Max and Maya. He wants dual Xeons, but is that the way to go for a workstation doing this? I haven't been able to find any solid benchmarks comparing the two, so if anyone has some links, that would be great. I'm basically looking at the Xeons versus a P4 560.

Also, if the Xeons are the way to go, looking for recomendations for motherboard and which specific Xeons to go with, as I haven't dealt with them before. Price range is ~500 give or take 1-200 either way for the processors (total amount spent, not per chip).

Thanks.

Just looking at prices, basically what would be better, a Dual 2.8 Xeons or the P4 560. Both systems would come out to about the same price, however, the 560 would get DDRII and PCI-E.

Edit: Scratch the 560, it'll probably be a 550.
