Which HS do you guys think is better for use on a socket 370 mobo (Abit SA6R), Alpha PAL6035 or Alpha PEP66. I am planning on putting a 60mm Panaflo L1A on whichever I get which leads me to question #2. Do you think an Alpha (either one) with a L1A will be cooler than a Golden Orb, quieter than a GOrb, or both.

Thanks for any input.

I don't know which one is better, but they will be louder then a golden orb.

The Pep66 is for slocket adapters but you can modife it so it will work on socket a/370.

Do you think it would still be louder even with a 24 dB-A Panaflo on it rather than a delta or Sunon on it.

Update-I decided to go with the ADDA fan at 13.2 CFM and 16 dB-A....what do you think now?

Even with the slower fan, the Alpha's should readily be better than the Gorb due to their better engineered fin design... basically, since the Gorb only puts out ~15cfm anyway, the difference between your prospects is the dissipation from the actual sinks, in which case: Advantage Alpha

My real question is noise. Do you think the Alpha's would be quieter than the GOrb. Also which Alpha would be quieter the PAL or the PEP. Can anyone tell me without a doubt wether the PEP66 would be able to fit on my motherboard WITHOUT modification.

Thanks again.

The pep66 was ment to be monted on a slocket adapter, the fan is on the side on it. So the fan probably won't fit on the side and you would have to mount it on the top.

I had a golden orb and if I put my ear close to it, about half a foot aways and unpluged the fan I couldnt even hear the difference, that's how quiet they are.

I too have a GOrb.....it ain't quiet. At least not compared with the rest of my machine. Mine puts off kind of a high pitched whine which I have attributed to the design of the GOrb but maybe I just have a bad one. Even if it is that I have a bad one I think I still want to try something more powerfull and easier to mount this time.
