Currently I have 2 DirecTivo's (non HDTV) and when I move one of the things I need to consider is first pricing, second programming, and third picture quality? Also I was thinking with comcast I can save $$ by getting it bundled with comcast broadband cable and using Vonage instead of SBC/ATT. Please help out a first time home buyer who is trying to get QUALITY and SAVE money at the same time :)

Well if you want quality then I'd stay away from the Voip phone since downloads can mess up phone quality or even cause calls to drop.

I had a Comcast HD DVR last year and am back to my DirecTivo now, I really don't miss the Comcast since with the digital quality from DirecTV it's not as bad as the non-HD channels on Comcast.

I can still do over the air HD for my local shows and movies also so I only don't get HD on channels like Discovery and a few other that I would barley ever watch with Comcast's HD lineup.

I have DirecTV HD right now and can't complain. The OTA HD looks better of course.

DirecTV has newer HD receivers now that receive MPEG-4 which is supposed to look better. They're still rolling out more locals in HD now. They're supposed to be adding more national channels later this year/next year.

directv sucks compared to most cable co's when picture quality is concerned.... just do a search for "HD lite" and AVSForum and you will get more information than you care to read.

Cable does vary by area so your best bet will be to find somebody around you who has cable to see how good it is.
