Better Hardware for Games?

I was looking to upgrade my computer (ram, mobo, cpu, video) with a small budget. I think I would be able to configure the following:

939 mobo with pcie
athlon 64 3700 sd
2 gb ram
7900gt

Would this outperform a xbox 360? I know its difficult to compare but what about games such as cod2 and oblivion? If you have a similar system along with a 360, your input would also be VERY appreciated. Thanks.

i don't know about graphics but watching my friend play oblivion on his system and then on mine with a7900gt 2gb 3800x2 mine could run alot smoother plus load times where much much faster might be the sata hd not to mention all these graphic/performance/play mods you can get http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/theelder...llsivoblivion/downloads.html?mode=mods
