i have had a problem w/eye contact for as long as i can remember. whenever i talk to someone, i almost never look into there eyes :( Only about 10% of the time do i remember to look into their eyes.

well, last week, i was installing w2k server at work and it was past my lunch time (2pm) and felt so hungry that i couldnt concentrate on work anymore. then one of my co-workers (age 40+) started talking to me, and i was looking into her eyes 75% of the time (no pics). it dropped back down to 10% the next day.

Was it a fluke or has hunger changed my brain chemistry?

What an interesting question... try it again and see if the same changes are noticed?

That could be right. The coworker was a good bit older (i'm assuming here from the 40+) and so he was thinking he could eliminate them being stronger.

well, tried again today. back to 10% eye contact :( but i wasnt hungry. and i seldomly get extremely hungry, like i did that day.

most of the time, even if i skipped dinner, breakfast, and lunch, i usually can tolorate the hunger.

i have no idea why that day i was SOOOO hungry it was almost overwhelming. (i had dinner the nite b4, and i usually dont have breakfast)

Making eye contact is one of the ways that dominance in a conversation is naturally asserted (in some cultures). Because you were hungry and probably wanted to just get out of there and get something to eat, possibly you unconsciously make yourself more dominant in the conversation to get it over with faster and find food. Just a possible thought.
