I have been using Eudora Pro for ages (Ver 4 and 5). Several times now, I get a page fault and the program will no longer open. I fix it by changing files and doing the steps on the Eudora web site.

I wonder now if I should be looking for something better? I do NOT want to try LOOKOUT....I mean OUTLOOK!! :D

Thousands of people here use Eudora Pro with no problems.

Try reinstalling the programs and/or troubleshooting your OS perhaps?

Sorry, there simply isn't a better e-mail client out there :D :D

Yeah, that is why I keep using it! Someone said to try pmmail, but I have everything on Eudora. I think I will try the help steps on the Eudora site. Still, this must be a regular problem if they even have a "what to do when page faults will not even let you open Eudora" guide!!

Before trying anything - backup your Eudora Pro folder:

I'd recommend reinstalling the *latest* version of Eudora Pro from scratch first. Try to simply get the application running - this may help rule out any OS problems. If you can't get this far, then time to look into what is preventing the app from running in the first place.

If Eudora Pro launches and is stable, then try moving/importing your mail from the old folder. I'm sure there are a set of steps on their website for this.

Good luck!

Please keep us updated on the problem...

In the past I have renamed the inbox, trash, and sent files and toc's. I then removed some of the files they suggested like descmap, eudprov.

It has always worked, so I do not think it was the OS. At any rate, I may try stuff one-at-a-time this time so I will know for sure!

Will let you all know.

FIXED...and a good tip will follow!!!

I looked in the Eudora dir and found my spool DIR. I made a new one called spoolold and MOVED all files except the dat file into it. Eudora then came up!!

I kept moving files back 5 at a time until it failed again. I found the bad file and then moved the rest. As the 5 were moved, I brought up Eudora each time and it showed 5 new messages each time. When they showed up, they were removed from the spool folder by Eudora! I only had to remove the bad one "by hand" after moving them all the first time!

This worked great!!!
