better CFM: Silencer or L1A?

The Silencer is listed to have higher CFM, but I doubt this.

Does anyone have irrefutable evidence that the Silencer pumps out more air than the Panaflo L1A? (or vice versa 😀)

thanks!

...I'm trying to settle an argument and decide if I should change fans on my PAL 8045.

I think the Silencer is reasonably respected, but the L1A continues to be used far more frequently if that actually means anything. The only comparison I have seen is this and it isnt much.

You're going to get roughly the same CFM out of both of them. There may be a minor difference, but not enough that it's noticable.

I personally choose L1A's over Silencers because the L1A's use a hydrowave bearing, whereas the Silencers use a traditional ball-bearing. Hydrowave bearings are generally more reliable and slightly quieter, mainly because they never need to be lubricated. So yeah, L1A's are the way to go, if you ask me.

About a year ago, Gizzo posted that he had tested both by seeing how long it took for each fan to fill up a plastic bag. He said that the Silencer moved more air. I use both, and although I have no strong evidence, I think the L1A is a bit quieter.
