Better cardgame than Hoyle?

My parents mainly play hoyle cardgames and hoyle boardgames, I've tried introducing them to other things like world of goo but it never really gelled with them. I want to get them the ultimate card or board game package, and I'm wondering if there's anything better than Hoyle? Maybe one that's got more online play options? I imagine they'd enjoy playing the same stuff with human opponents. I don't know any card games other than crazy 8's so this isn't really my field of expertise.
