I have a Dell Pocket DJ 5GB MP3 player that I bought 1.5 yrs ago. It's battery life on a full charge isn't bad, around 11 hours with EQ on, but the standby time was horrible. Even with the player off, the battery wouldn't last more than 2-3 days. I noticed a few weeks ago that the battery always got very hot after a charge and during play. With the player's full aluminum body shell, I had an idea while working at a summer camp. I went home, put some Ceramique between the battery and aluminum shell, and the results were UNBELIEVABLE:

Play time with EQ on: 12.5 hours
Standby time: MORE THAN 2 WEEKS

So for all those of you with MP3 players that have bad standby times, you might want to look into this. Took me about 3 minutes to do, and multiplied my standby time almost tenfold.

Will it cause any damage? Or is it due to the nonconductivity of Ceramique that allows it to not affect anything?

I suspect it wouldn't damage anything... although good luck explaning the goo inside your MP3 player if anyone ever has to look at the batteries.

It does not use removable batteries, and the cover is screwed tightly over the battery/HDD compartment, so I doubt I'll have to take out the battery before the life of this player is over.
