Pie Five: http://www.piefivepizza.com/menu/
Any pizza for $7. They're all personal sized. I have a coupon for buy one, get one free

PapaJohns: Any large specialty pizza $8 (after 50% off coupon)
Costco: Xtra large combo pizza $10 (normal price) at food court

If we go by area of the pizza (pi x R squared):
-Pie Five 3.14 x 5 squared = 3.14 x 25 = 78.5
since I'm getting 2, it's 157 sq inches

$7/157 = $0.045/inch

-papajohns 3.14 x 49 = 154 sq inches
$8/154 = $0.052/inch

-Costco 3.14 x 64 = 201 sq inches
$10/201 = $0.050/inch

So Pie Five wins

/Obligatory They all suck

No Piefivepizza close to me, there are a few opening up in the area, but still 10+ miles.

Papa Johns is definitely the worst chain pizza I've had, and I've never had Piefive, so Costco wins here.

I don't know PieFive, but Costco pizza is much better than Papa John's. I'd rather just have frozen pizza than eat PJ's.

Don't know PieFive. Costco is decent. Papa Johns is terrible. Would rather eat Pizza Hut or Little Caesars than Papa Johns.

A better comparison would be to weigh the toppings unless you want a mouthful of dry bread and sauce.

Also, you can make your own at home for less money.

Jesus himself flies down from heaven every time a Costco pizza is made. He says a short prayer and blesses each slice, and then cries over the magnificence that has just been born unto this world. His tears magically transform every morsel into an orgasmic holy experience.

If you go against this belief you are a heretic and you will be burned at the stake for your damnable sins.

Yea same here. Never heard of PieFive and Costco pizza is really good. PJ's has gone down in quality. Pizzahut is still awful like PJs and Dominos has gotten better.

Even my 6 year old loves Costco pizza and HAS too eat it at Costco for some reason. I guess it taste better in house then at home. :)

Amazing how this varies from area to area. I used to love Pizza Hut but maybe a decade+ ago they decided to go healthier / less greasy and now it's not only dry but lacks taste. Papa Johns is the best chain pizza here in taste and consistency. The new Dominoes a close 2nd.

If you consider shrinkage while baking for a moment, or the dough not being spread out to the exact size while making the pizza, that 10" pizza might be 9 1/2", and that 16" pizza might be 15 1/2". You better recheck all your calculations based on a range of sizes with a standard deviation of .375 inches on the diameter.

I like them. Not a fan of their pepperoni or ham, but get one of their specialty pizzas and they are much better than pizza hut or... or.. hm, no other pizza chains around here really except for papa murphys or cicis.

Worse than the artificial shit you get at pizzahut? That stuff is barely even pizza. At least papajohns makes pizza instead of greasy slimy fake cheese shit.
The only OK "pizza" at Pizza Hut was their Taco pizza
... And taco really isn't a pizza

you need to exclude the width of the crust, it makes a big difference
Pie Five wheat has no crust. don't know about other types of dough.
Pajajohn's regular has a crust. don't know about their thin pizza.
Costco always has a crust.

Pie Five (w/coupon) is looking even better?

I'd rather have pizza hut than papa johns. papa johns slices are tiny and like 1/3 of the top surface area is the crust.

Approximate WalMart prices...

$5.00..........5lb bag of King Arthur bread flour
$8.50..........1.5 lb of pepperoni
$8.50...........2lb mozz shredded cheese
$3.54...........(8) small cans of Hunts sauce
--------
$25.54.........eight 12" pizzas.

3.014x36x8=904.8

25.54/904.8=0.0282 Round it off to 0.030 to account for yeast and salt.

Make them at home. Sure there's some planning ahead to be done, but even with those basic ingredients, it's better than those chain pizzas.

Of the 3, I'd go Costco. When we have a potluck and I'm short on time, I'll get a few of theirs and have them slice it in squares instead of slices. Everyone will usually get a few slices each instead of 1 big slice taking up a whole plate. I'd nominate Roundtable Pizza as the best for chains. Papa Murphy's is good for take and bake. Frozen, I'd pick D'Giorno (sp?).
