better alternative to Vostro 460

I feel that my Dell Dimension 4550 needs to be replaced soon.

I'm looking at base price for Vostro 460, which is $599 before tax. Are there better alternative for building desktop in $500-700 range?

Thanks!

That is impressive for $600. I don't think that will be beat. I dunno if you need a PCI-E slot and I have no way of checking if the dell has one, but if you don't need it that looks amazing.

I was hoping that I get better priced alternative here 🙂
I don't need windows, but there is no way to subtract anything on Dell's $599 build.

Will be waiting for additional comments. Time range to buy is about 3 months. Would you think prices can come down a little by spring?

ow 1Gb ram...

1gig - sucks for such system. would prolly need to upgrade to at least at 4gig.
on side note my dimension has only 1/2 gig and running xp pro just fine

You aren't going to find a better system for less, but you can do a whole lot worse going into a lower price bracket. I would get another 1GB stick of ram for an extra $35.
