Better: 700e@133FSB or 800eb@~150FSB ?

Greets.

If you have the RAM to handle a high FSB, which configuration in title does best? Better performance from an insync cpu-memory bus @ ~150 or 700e clocked to 133, for a slightly higher internal clock than 800eb @ ~150, but a slower overall system buss.

well, its not just ram that can hold ya back, you have to worry about how far out of spec the pci is. the 700e has a beter chance of working if you can do 1/4fsb~pci, in spec. as for preformance, im not realy sure wich would be beter for your use. it would be nice to see some benchmarks on those 2 setups though.

Do the math.
7 x 133= 931, although bios will measure it at 933.
6 X 150= 900, less likely, unless you have Very Awsome ram.

The 700E, if you get one that will run at 133MHz fsb is the better choice.

Given the two scenarios, and components able to handle their busses O'Ced from spec (including mem, like using PC150 or Mushkin Rev2), and after the math, even tho 700e@133 has a 'slightly higher internal clock than 800eb@150'(yup, 931 cf 900), is there better performance afforded with the 800eb@150 setup due to the faster overall system bus (150 cf 133) -raw cpu clock or pumped bus?

depending on which motherboard
if you have
BX get the 700E at 933
i815/via get the 800EB at 150

for obvious reasons

On a MoBo that is happy @ high FSB (i815/133a), along with the components sitting in it.

I would say the 700@933 on a BX is faster than an 800eb@900 on an i815 or VIA mobo. However, I do not think by much.

Anand did a great review on the BX vs the rest a few months back and I believe you may be able to find the answer in some of the graphs.

If your board and components are able to handle the 150 FSB then YES the 800eb running at 150 will be slightly faster in most benchmarks. I've done the comparison on my BX board with an 866 vs my 700.

would be a wash performance wise, slight edge to a BX based rig. get a 815E/700E combo for and go for it. if you plan to overclock there is very little reason to get an EB chip.
