Well, if the live action trailer is anything to go by on how this game will be, I'm pretty freaking pumped.

Maybe if they didn't waste their money making pointless "live action" movies they could afford to hire more than 3 voice actors.

I dunno..that trailer was pretty cool at the end...maybe they should just make a live action movie..has to be better than the new Silent Hill :p

Looks promising. Hopefully he can recapture some of what the Resident Evil franchise gradually lost in its latter installments.

There's something about the pacing of the 4th and 5th games which just didn't do it for me, whereas I was a huge fan of the first couple of games.

I'm not saying that the later games didn't do anything right, mind you. But I just really preferred the pacing of the original games -- and I really could do without the overuse of button-tapping centered action sequences.

That trailer wasn't scary. I felt like a middle schooler made that. What was up with the pyramid head (now cube head) ripoff (hammer instead of a sword).

I hate live-action trailers for games, as they tell you nothing about the actual game.

It tells you quite a bit actually. Sounds a lot to me like "we have no content yet and are just building hype."

Bah, survivor horror wasn't what I was hoping for on the Bethesda front

It's not being made by Bethesda, they're just publishing it. The game's being made by Shinji Mikami's new studio, Tango Gameworks.

I have high hopes for this game. I was a huge Res Evil fan back in the day and loved Survival horror.

So, this game's finally slated for release on October 14th, next month. Pre-orders are up. GMG had a 25% off code for it earlier, I think it may have expired though. But I'm sure there will be another one. I'll update if I see any deals.

Live action trailer (already linked above, but here's the Youtube version for good measure):

TGS trailer:

PAX East gameplay trailer (graphics look crappy, probably old-gen version):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3t1TVtfUfE

Extended gameplay trailer (12 minutes of pure gameplay. Looks much better, possibly captured on a PC):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMKhoHl9BnE

The good news is that Bethesda seems to have given pre-release code to LOTS of journalists and Youtubers for public use, so the devs obviously aren't afraid to show it off. If you do a youtube search for "evil within gameplay" you can find plenty of gameplay videos.

I'm stoked for this one. Once I heard that Shinji Mikami was making a proper spiritual successor to RE4, I was pretty much already sold.

I might not get to it right away, only because the game is releasing so soon after Alien Isolation, another horror game that I'm planning on playing. But I sure will get it on release. Big-budget horror games are coming back in the best kind of way.

Seriously if you get hit with a chainsaw you won't be running around 10min later. The whole creeping around in shadows gets really old quick too. Even Manhunt devolved into a shooter eventually. And, where is Manhunt 3?

Live action trailers can go to hell, be dismembered, and each member fried in lard. That trailer can be about a text based game like Zork for all it reveals about the game.

lol +1

I always think someone looked at their trailer and thought "Holy crap, we can't show this mess. Get me some cheap actors."

Looks interesting if reality lives up to the hype. Flavors of Painkiller, Call of Cthulu Dark corners of the Earth (also IGN). Anyway, hope the game is not another console port that is not optimized for PC (graphics, controls). As with most games, I'll wait until it's out awhile.

The game is running on the idTech 5 engine and is being published under Bethesda Softworks. The last game released under these circumstances was Wolfenstein: The New Order, and that one turned out great. Have high hopes for this one too.

Wolfenstein: The New Order was made by Ex-Starbreeze employees, the ones who made the Riddick games and The Darkness which were fairly good games.

The Evil Within developers are new so I wouldn't bank on anything yet, well at least they have Shinji Mikami who created the Resident Evil series for them so that's a positive.

Is it first person then?
