I bought a tv 3 years ago from best buy and I've had it serviced 4 times now from them (I had the extended warranty). After calling them today (for yet another problem), they said they set me up for an exchange under their no lemon policy.

They gave me a confirmation # and told me to take my TV in. He said that I'd be able to get a comparable model and that there were 5 models I can choose from. Does that mean I'm stuck with whatever 5 models they let me pick from or would I be able to argue for something different? I have yet to find out what the models are but I want to go in there prepared for them to try to rip me off (if you care, had a nightmarish experience with them regarding a laptop I bought from them)

Your existing unit has X,Y,Z options/capability.

They will show you 5 models that are same size with the same X,Y,Z options.

You choose which one of the five. To argue for something else, you will need to show why what they are offering is not equivalent/better than your existing unit.

Further, its fairly likely you'll get a better TV; so that argument will fall on def ears.

I'm heavily leaning towards the Samsung. I've owned 3 samsungs and have loved them all. Plus it has the "apps" built in which is huge for me.

How are they ripping you off when your TV is a POS (manufacturer fault), and they offered to replace it with 5 brand new comparable TVs based on the terms of the warranty? This is a case of where the business is trying to do right and the customer's getting greedy and asking for more. But that's just me.

just get the samsung tv. the best value. what do you need the store credit for? do you don't need a tv? you gonna have to pay taxes on the NEW tv if you want to buy one with the store credit unless u live in a no sale tax state.

did you even read what I wrote? I didn't say they're ripping me off this time, I was referring to how they ripped me off from my laptop experience

Oooh good point, didn't think about the tax. I don't really need to replace this TV right away which is why I was considering the store credit idea but saving $50 on sales tax makes me lean towards the samsung even more.

I was prepared for a "lemon policy, extended warranty bullshit, BB ripped me off"... I am surprised.

I would go with the Samsung. With LED and 120 Hz, I would be super happy. But I'm not too big of an HiFi nazi. I have two Samsungs and aside from some backlight bleed in one corner of my 40" (I don't notice unless I look for it), all is good.

That looks like a nice Samsung set. IMO you'd be foolish to take the credit over the TV, because they're having some okay sales on TVs right now for the super bowl. That Samsung really is on sale for 900, so if you take the gift card it won't be able to buy the same set in a couple weeks when it's no longer on sale.

Make sure the TV has internet connectivity built in (wifi or wired). I bought a Samsung smart tv a year ago and had to buy an $80 wireless adaptor (proprietary) to connect it to the net. Those apps don't do much good if you can't connect the TV to the internet.

I'll make sure. the description on the webpage says it's has wifi and it has an ethernet port as well.

Same thing with the panasonic that I got my parents. I actually think it had built in wired connection, but wireless required the dongle (and that dongle didn't work very well)
