I am a tourist from England. I am in the US for a 10 days. Could the gurus advice me on the best buy for a laptop and a handheld.
At home I use a XP1800+ with 512Mb on a Asus KT333 desktop. This so far seems fine as most of my work is related to writing biomedical articles and I also use cygwin and latex to typeset my articles.

If you're only in the US for 10 days and you're planning on getting the laptop for your stay, then I guess you would have to go to a local store (Best Buy, Staples, Circuit City, Frys, etc.) since you won't be able to get the laptop right away if you ordered online. You can also go there to see which one feels more comfortable for you. I guess get the cheapest one you can find will do just fine for typing your articles. If you want to do other stuff like play games and watch movies, then finding a laptop would be a bit harder. If you don't need a laptop right away, then stick around the Hot Deals forum and wait for a Dell deal (don't post a request though, hehe. 😛)
