I ordered a couple of DVD's in January when they had them on sale for 2 for $20... I get both DVD's in the mail, but one of the keepcases is broken, the splines that hold the DVD in place were broken off, allowing the DVD to slide around in the case and get scratched. I live 3 hours from the closest bestbuy, so its not like I can run across town and return it.
I get up to Reno Monday, which is 30 days from the day I placed the order, and try to return it... I go up to customer service and explain the problem, she has me run back and grab another copy... she then opens it up and places the new DVD in the old broken case and hands it to me... I am like wtf.. I tell her I want the new unbroken case... she proceeds to tell me she is doing me a favor by exchanging it, since its been 30 days. I have to explain that today is the 30th day, and its been 30 days since I placed the order, but because of shipping delays and delivery time I have actually only had the DVD for just over 2 weeks, and that I don't live close by... We argue for like 5 minutes over the case, she saying that once I get the DVD home, it doesn't get moved that much, so I don't need the new case... I just can't believe it... Her big thing is she can't get the pink return sticker off the case, and she has to have it on the case for me to leave the store with it... She finally gives in, and I am finally able to leave with the new DVD, but only after the guy at the front calls to verify everything...
Is this person just a dumb sheep who can't interprate policy or is Bestbuys policy so ridiculously stringent that it doesn't allow for a simple exchange of defective merchandise in a reasonable manner?
