Bestbuy Reward Zone: What happens if i return something?

If i buy something using Reward Zone Certificates at BB, what happens when i return the item? I know they wouldn't give me cash, but would they do a GC or something else?

I recently did this very thing and the cashier told me that the reward zone points should re-appear on my account, within 6-8 weeks.

Ive been a member since day 1. Collected hundreds in bonuses. Its worth the hassle! They even recently renewed my membership for free because of a recent srew up regarding returns:

I bought an item and used the reward zone certs. It turned out to be the wrong item, so I exchanged it. The item I exchanged it for had a free gift card, instant savings, mail in rebate, you name it. Because of all that, when I had to return it because they wouldnt match an online price it produced an "over ring", meaning that because of the gift card the value of the return was more than the purchase price when figuring in the return of certificates to my account. It took about 4 months last fall to clear that mess up. I got everything back and a free membership renewal. Sweet.

So if you have to return something dont exchange it. Make sure they do a straight return first, then buy the second item outright. Dont bother tyring to use the certs again at that point unless you know theres no way in heck that item will be returned.

wow...you'll be missing a lot of good deals within that time.

They actually main you a return coupon for the amount tha tyou had paid. But yes it takes forever and don't bother calling because the peopl ewho answer the phone know less than my 6 month old daughter and are completely useless.

If they can't figure it out, contact your attorney general and have them contact Best Buy. Then you can get extra money back. That's what I had to do.
