bestbuy or circuit city for flat screen tv?

i have enough points to get $500 gift cards from either BB or CC. i'm planning to use that toward flat screen tv - either 42in or 50in...

1. which store is in general cheaper?
2. which store has better and wider selection?

thanks

I don't have a circuit sh!tty up here, only a best buy. and unlike the best buy's in the lower 48 that I've had the misfortune of frequenting, this one kicks ass. But if you have access to both... first find out which screen you'd like, then see who's got it for less.

meh...six of one, half dozen of the other. find what you want and pricematch.

Unless it's a bakers dozen. I'd rather have half of that.

😉

Since both generally sell for MSRP anyway, (unless what you want is on sale) the only difference will be in customer service...before and after the sale.
The BB here is pretty crappy BEFORE the sale, I suspect they wouldn't be any better AFTER...
Fortunately, I have lots of options locally that allow me to skip BOTH stores for major purchases, and NewEgg takes care of my computer related needs VERY well...About the only time I shop BB or CC is if they have some kind of little thing (game or small hardware item) on sale, and I don't want to wait for NewEgg to ship...

I vote circuit city. I worked at one for 2.5 years (part time, in between school and stuff) and it was a fairly good place, well run, and I wasn't personally involved in screwing any customers (warehouse FTW!)

get that gc and sell it on ebay. you get about 95% face value

agreed

Definitely. Both Best Buy and Circuit City cater to the lowest denominator. I don't know how much you would get selling a gift card but I'm sure you can spend your points (CC?) on something better.

I purchased my 50" Plasma at BB around NOV of last year. You might want to watch out for specials they run. I was able to get a $250 GC with my purchase and %15 off the TV at the same time. I ended up paying $2200 out the door (w/ tax) for a 50" Plasma with $250 in GC and $65-70 back from Reward Zone.

I then used the $250 GC w/ Reward Zone bucks and ended up making a few more Reward Zone bucks back on the purchases. HA.

I don't normally shop at BB, but I don't "hate" them like a lot of people on the bandwaggon do. It's just a store and I only purchase what I must. CC is probably a better experience overall though.

Something to think about.

best buy like 2 weeks before black friday... or after christmas they usually have really good savings on the tvs... got the 46" samsung dlp for 1700 + the best buy credit thing for every $100.
