tl;dr I ordered a laptop online for a friend, was shipped to the wrong address. Bestbuy was terrible in fixing their system’s error. Sorry, it's long.
I live in the E coast, my friend lives in the W coast. He had some BB gift cards and wanted to buy a cheap laptop. I used his gift cards & my CC to buy a refurb laptop. While checking out, at the last step before submitting the order, the stupid bestbuy system kept on changing the shipping address. I type in my friend’s address and hit save, the stupid thing reverts back to an old address. I tried 4 times, same thing. The fifth time of editing the shipping address & typing the correct one, it accepted it. I hit submit/buy.
The e-mail I received from bestbuy showed the wrong address! I tried to make changes to the order on their website; but the option was grayed out. I called their CS, was told she couldn’t make any changes to the order, “that seemed odd” she said. She asked me to call back when the order gets shipped. I asked her to fix it somehow; she asked me to call back when I receive the shipping e-mail, and there was nothing she could do.
A few days later the order gets shipped, I call bestbuy & overseas rep assures me that he would fix it & not to worry about it. He said he put a note with all the details & expect an e-mail the following day with a new order that would be shipped to the correct address.
24 hours later, I call these dumbasses, was told there was no note left the day before and to explain the whole thing again. The rep assured me that he’d call UPS & intercept the package that was supposed to be delivered that same day to my old address. UPS rep come on the line, but she says that the shipper is NOT bestbuy. Bestbuy rep asked me who is shipping the package? at this point I was going to explode. I calmed down and explained that my order said it’s sold by bestbuy. He apologizes to the UPS lady and she hangs up.
The guy is apologizing to me saying that since the shipper is not bestbuy blah blah blah he’ll look into it. It’s 90 min. round trip drive & $5 toll to cross the Ben Franklin Bridge in Philly + gas so I didn’t want to go pick up the package and want them to fix it. I called the landlord and asked her to refuse the package, she said no. I said I don’t live there anymore, and it’d be delivered to the wrong person, she said she can’t do it, grrrrrr.
The rep asked me to pick up the package, drop it off at bestbuy and then call them back, WTF. I refused, he said he’d take care of it. I asked him what you gonna do about it? He said he’d put a note and will have it fixed by the following day, meanwhile the package got delivered to the wrong address.
The next day I called bestbuy, rep said she’d fix it right away and to expect an e-mail the following day; which I never received.
I googled their HQ & whatever number for a US based CS, I found a number that people were saying that they got their issues resolved “geek squad special VIP” or something. I called and a lady answered, after explaining the whole thing, she apologized but said that she’d transfer me to the right department, I asked her to PLEASE connect me to US CS. She assured me and the guy who picked up is from the Philippines or something, I hanged up. I called their HQ and spoke to a nice lady, asked her to connect me to a manager or someone higher up since I’ve had so many issues. She asked me to wait, I get transferred to another Filipino guy, OMG.
I visited a nearby bestbuy, after speaking to the manager; he said there’s nothing he could do & I'd to call the same stupid 800 number again.
I called the stupid number and asked to speak to US CS, the Filipino lady asks me to explain what’s wrong I insisted to speak to a US CS, she tells me if she transfers me to US CS there’s a chance I’d get redirected to overseas reps.
Finally I managed to speak to a very nice African American lady who promptly placed another order and had it expedited to my friend + %10 off, she cancelled the previous order and told me not to worry about it.
My friend received his laptop, but DOA. He returned it to Bestbuy. What a nightmare.
I bought a printer & a tablet both on sale from those guys in the last 5 years, my friend had some gift cards & wanted to use em; otherwise I'd have ordered it from some other place.
