Hi All,

I am planning on buying a nice new widescreen LCD monitor soon. I can't decide if I want to go with newegg or BestBuy (B/M). Does anybody know what BB's dead pixel policy is? Has anybody tired to exchange an LCD monitor with 1 dead pixel at BB? If so, did you have to pay the restocking fee?

somewhere around here there is a list of the differing company policies towards the number of dead pixels needed before they declare the thing faulty.

I think the min number is 4 ... dell//i think is 6. Some will take it back if there is a couple right in the center (vs say 5 around the edges).

I'm not going to look too hard for the correct info ..as, i believe, if you go with best buy...

you can just return it regardless...in their timeframe for computer components.

Is it 15 days? A quick check..14 days.

monitors should be 30 days. computers, cameras, and i believe TV's are the only thing i can think of with the 14 day 15% restocking fee.

Are you are talking about newegg?

Best buy is definately 14 days for a monitor. Plus, if futureshop really does own them, there should be no restocking fee. Since i have never had to pay a restocking fee at futureshop.

Best to ask the straight from the source though :)

Not sure about Best Buy as for specific dead-pixel policy although they are decent about returns in most stores near me in Connecticut, however Circuit City has zero dead pixel policy so if you have one of their stores nearby that would be my choice instead.

Newegg's dead-pixel policy is bad at eight required for an RMA so if you buy from them you should go with a company like BenQ that has a zero-policy of their own.

Best Buy only has a 15 percent restocking fee on notebooks. Thats before 14 days and is opened. As for the dead pixels, Its covered out of the box for 14 days then you will have to refer to the manufacture. I believe its 7 or more for one year.
