If you have the 512mb 8800gt oc from BFG that bestbuy has been selling, will you please post your overclock here in this topic.

the stock on these cards was 625mhz core / 900mhz memory / 1566mhz shader
the stock reference board is 600mhz core / 900mhz memory / 1500mhz shader

i am running 740mhz core / 963mhz memory / 1773mhz shader.

stock fan, stock volts, stock heatsink.

the fastest ive seen, using a volt-mod, is 910mhz core, 1050mhz memory, 2240mhz shader.

Mine crash often enough in certain games (Hellgate: London for example) even at the stock overclock and even after a fresh Vista x64 reinstallation with all hotfixes. I'm considering underclocking back to reference clocks. Before I attempt to take these puppies higher.

What are you using to stress test?

I'm running unigine over and over and looking for artifacts, etc.

So far only 725/1000/1566

Haven't moved the shader yet

I picked up one of these cards today on a whim before someone could buy it without knowing if it is good or not. I know that sometimes in B&M versions of cards can be inferior to the retail ones you can purchase online. Of course the part number is different BFGR rather than the BFGE versions online. Is it the same product or is it inferior? I know the price isn't bad I picked mine up with the BB employee discount for $223 which beats anything online but with prices slowly coming down would i be smart to keep this or take it back and purchase an online version?
thanks in advance :)

keep the one you have, overclock it, and post the results here in this topic :)

to bruno:

i use atitool to scan for artifacts, and rivatuner to do the actual overclocking.

got mine higher before, but currently running it at core 699: Mem: 983, shader: 1691

theres absolutely no real world increase in these minimal overclocks. if a game isn't playable before Ocing, it still won't be after... benchmarking purposes only

Yeah that's what I've got running right now.

Do you just go by "no errors" time?

Sometimes I can get yellow dot artifacts but it never picks them up as errors, but I count them anyway and knock it down a bit.

Mine seems to be good for about 720 core/1675 shader/1050 mem until I start seeing artifacts in Atitool or Crysis. This is with stock cooling and 50% fan speed, without any voltmod. For everyday use I set it at 700/1675/1000 to ensure stability.

Try flashing the bios to the newest one from BFG. These cards get hot and with the older bios, the fan almost never ramps up when it really needs to.

I think I've settled on 725/1800/1000. Can do a bit more on memory and shader but doubt any higher would do much.

12159 on 3dmark (E6300 @ 3.0Ghz)

well I had to take my card back after all. I had decided to keep it about 4am yesterday morning and opened it to install it and what was inside the box was a bfg 6600 GTS. The 2nd 6 was scratched to look like an 8 at first glance, the sticker identifying the card was removed on the back, and the rear bracket was not only bent but showed screw marks indicating it was previously installed in a computer. Turns out someone switched out the cards at some point and also kept the hdtv cable.
I took it back today for a refund :(

I running at 709/1776/1000 and it seems to be rock steady. I did kick the fan up to 75%. I haven't seen the temp get above 62 degrees even while running 3dmark 2003.

I ran 3dmark 2003 and scored 35000+
I ran 3dmark 2001 and scored 34000+(I don't understand that one)

I'm going to run 3dmark 2006 now that I have the O/C settings I want to use:thumbsup:

that's the most horrifying purchase i have ever heard of in a while. so the box was the original 6600gts'? couldnt u tell that something wasnt right by the purchase price? (assumed the 6600gts should be dirt cheap)

Somebody bought the 8800GT, and then returned it, but before he did, stuffed a 6600GT in the box and scratched the 6 in 6600 to look like an 8. An unknowledgable customer service employee took it for face value and accepted the return. The dude now has a free 8800GT, until he is caught. Billy Batson then picked up the restocked item. A 6600GT stuffed in an 8800GT box, unknowingly.

That's what I got out of his description.

Mine is 720/1728/947

So far it's stable in Crysis with 90% fan speed and runs at around 75 C load. Think it can go higher?

And that's why it says "Cashier: Please open box and verify contents, making sure the UPC barcode matches the one seen here" on the box.

I was actually afraid of that and when I bought the card myself the first thing I did was check that the card's Part Number and the one on the box were identical.

Bought an external 750GB drive at Bestbuy last night and the cashier couldn't understand why I was opening the box and checking for a bag of sand

My BFG will go up to 750MHz core before ATITool starts showing artifacts. However I leave it at 700/1753/1000 running 24/7 which is cooled by a VF1000.

I've had it at 1100 with no problems, but in regards to jonnyGURU's recommendation in another thread I've backed it down to 990.

Got the last one in store! :p Fitted Accelero S1 (RAMsinks fell off) and idle temps are 50C, load temps maxed out at 77C (I have a 120mm case fan exhausting air from it.)

Stable clocked at 650/1600/950... Could probably push further.

Note: The load temp seems high, but it was after 12 hours of accidental ATiTool artifact scanning... :\

My current stable OC is 700/1650/990 with the fan running around 60-70%. I could probably go a little further but I'm probably CPU limited anyway (overclocked Opteron, max resolution of 1280x1024).

I've not used Rivatuner much, but after tinkering with it since I got the 8800GT, I love it. It's great being able to setup fan and OC profiles that can be accessed with hotkeys. :)
