I found these $5 off $19.99 and up coupons in the BestBuy Gamers Gift Card package in a green CD jewel case. So if you are to buy any game from BB, go to the check out and buy the gift card first, then use GC and coupon inside to make the purchase.

The card does not have a face value, you can specify the amount for the card.

"Repost, but still a good deal.

Thanks for the reminder! "

Why do people on this forum insist on telling others whether it is a repost or not.

I guess it makes a person feel bigger if they are aware of a seperate post that contains similar information, I guess I understand.

Letsgetsilly,

No, I don't think you understand. There are numerous hot deal boards out there. What makes this board stands out among those countless hotdeal boards is the vigilant members. Thanks to their efforts, the quality of the posts here is well-maintained and the redundant posts are minimized. They may often seem unfriendly or even offensive, but they are the reason for the success of this board. At the same time, they are helping you save your time. Do you really want to go through 20 different posts with virtually the same information? Think about that.

Perhaps responding to this thread was not necessary, given that there was only one "repost" claim. However, it is undeniable that there are countless threads that are taken up with members not contributing to the thread at all, but only "alerting" the others to a repost after it has been "alerted" by 30 other people.

It was not the efforts of people to maintain a high quality, efficient forum that I was speaking of, it is the presence of those annoying members that demand attention so greatly that they need to have their name in a post, regardless of how irrelevant or unecessary it is.

When i see those posts, i picture in my head a stereotypical nerd that sits infront of his computer, searching threads with his lights turned out, looking for that "repost" so that he can claim it first, and then make fun of the 'reposter' (who was only trying to help out) , and then use a phrase like "LOL".

At first I thought this was humorous, then I was annoyed, and now the lines are blurred and i am simply filled with murderous rage. Or, something like that. LOL.

And I find it even more galling when presumptuous newbie doofuses make asinine assumptions about people and their motives.

If you think all I'm after is post count, then you obviously have NO IDEA how much work is involved in maintaining a perpetual list like the BIG LIST - Xbox deals thread started, which doesn't offer any discernable bump in my post count for the work.

Or, take a look at a similar thread about Dreamcast deals I started last November.
You could ask AU Tiger how much work that kind of list is (he just turned over the BIG LIST - Gamecube deals to someone else).

If you STILL have any question about whether I'm interested in a high quality, efficient forum, then why don't you actually take the time to read some of the comments in either of those threads that mention how helpful it had/has been to someone before shooting your mouth off?

And in Hot Deals especially, keeping reposting to a minimum helps keep the signal/noise down and helps people focus on scanning for new deals (especially since some deals are here one minute and then gone the next), rather than rehashing stuff that's already out there.

FYI: I thought my "repost" post was pretty darned polite compared to a lot of "repost" messages that come across.

I think having someone stating that the deal is a repost is beneficial. When I see "repost", I generally don't waste anymore time reading the remainder of the post, since there already exists a post (possibly with more feedback from other forum members).

There are occasions where I'll go one or two more down past the repost claim just to see people complain about it.

My local best buy is giving away free trials for Netflix. The free trial comes in a DVD case and contains 5 off 20 video game coupon as well at 2 off 20 for movies, 5 off 20 for pc software, 1 off 10 for music CDs and two coupons for CD/DVD cases. So you get the coupons and a DVD case for free. There was just a big stack of these right by the DVD section when I walked into the store in Westwood, California. Hopefully they have these at other BBs. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip! Took a while to find, but finally found it in the music cd section. They weren't next to the gift cards near the register, or in the game section as I initially thought.

Bought it, then went back and picked up Delta Force Task Force Dagger with the $5 off any $19.99 game coupon in the green gift card jewel case.

called my local BB here in portland, OR... they didn't have any idea what a "Gamer Gift Card" was. :) They did happen to mention the netflix trial coupons though... I figure I take a trip out there and see what I can find for myself (you know how dumb some BB employees are!). At the very least I can do some PMing to drop the price of UT2003 a couple bucks.

Are you sure you're not trying to feel like a bigger man?

Anyway. Announcing that something is a repost (or better yet, linking to the original post) is VERY useful.

1) Many times, the original thread will have things like success stories or extra things that were discovered that you can tack onto a deal mentioned inside

2) It avoids board clutter. How many spiderman dvd deals were there last week? If each store had its own "Spider-Man for 14.88 @ bestbuy" thread then the first page would be all about spiderman and deals like the $15 off disney may not be seen

3) Weeks later, after a deal has died then many times we need to do a search for some forgotten details. (Rebate info, pricematch etc...) If you do a search for "staples chair" then find 15 threads then its a pain to go through them all. But if its one compiled thread then its less of a hassle.

Anybody know if the coupon is just in the gamers package jewel gift card?

My Best Buy seems to only have the green birthday gift cards - are they the same?
