Another very quiet option is an Alpha 8942 or Swiftech MCX4000. With either of these, you can use any standard 80MM fan. Use a Panalo L1A (21 dB) or M1A (28 dB), and you have a very quiet setup.

Zalman CNPS7000-AlCu or CNPS7000-Cu

I have the Al-Cu version and I can't hear it at all. Putting it simply, it rocks harcore.

I've got the 7000-Cu version on a P4 2.53 533FSB. I haven't tried to overclock it yet since I'm a newb at OCing.

Idle it runs between 28C and 32C, and I've never seen the temp go over 40C at full load, high fan speed.
I have five case fans, two front intake, two rear exhaust, and one side intake. The case is a Cheiftec X-Pider.
Very quiet even with the fan speed all the way up.

I have the 7000-cu on a 2.4b at 169fsb. It is very quiet. (actually it makes less noise than any of my case fans and less than my GPU cooler) My CPU temps actually read high on my 2.4b/BH7 setup which everyone says is due to ABIT's problematic temp probe. But as a comparison, it runs much cooler than a slk-900 with 92mm tornando at 5v, and with the tornado fan at 12v, sounding like a shopvac, the Zalman is still only 1-2c warmer than the SLK900 at full CPU load. Needless to say I am staying with the 7000-cu, and wouldn't trade it for any air cooler on the market currently.

That temp is fine but more importantly, what is it under load? Don't worry about the silent mode, that cooler is almost dead silent at full speed. Just take the fan mate out of line and plug the fan dircectly to the mobo socket. You should drop 2-3 degrees in doing so and make no significant change in sound level, unless you open your case and put your ear to the HSF.

Is that with no case fans in? As long as you have those others lying around, just try using them. Some good case fans are the Panasonic Panaflos and the Antec smartfan-both are not loud at all, and the smartfan is nice to have as it revs up as temps go up. The Panaflos, esp. 90mm+, move a ton of air without making a sacrifice in the noise department.

the Cu is better as it is all copper. but it weighs a ton (about 1.7 pounds) while the cu-al one does the job almost as well (at only about 1.0 pounds)

Will tha Zalman(which model is best) fit on the Asus P4800-E Dlx mobo or is there a better alternative. Looking to do some mild OC to either a 2.8C or 3.0C? Also, will be getting a coolermaster ATC-201B-BXT, and was wondering if the case fans are going to be that loud and should I replace because of noise and or cooling?

I have the Zalman CNPS7000-AlCu with my 2.8/533 OC-ed to 3.4Ghz :D on an Abit IC7

I didnt install it correctly - it wasnt even touching the cpu properly. still kept the temp down doen to 58C !

Now, 44C @ idle, 56C @ load, room temp 34C

Heh I'm getting your exact temps +1-2C, the Zalman is down like a vise.. thanks for your story I *made* sure it was on tight. :)

This in a cheapo Enermax case with a 460w quietmax - which means cables all over the place that I can do little about.

I think you're right he is running an Intel board.

I just want to know if a Zalman will fit on the ASUS P4C 800E Deluxe board?

Hardly anyone here is using the motherboard in your sig, you can't compare temps from different motherboard companies. Your temp is probably fine.

Every canterwood and springdale I've tested has been able to fit the wonderful Zalman 7000 series of HSF's.
