Best xbox modchip?

spaceman

Lifer
i caved in to the demon.now i need to know what the best mod chip for the xbox is 🙂
do the solderless chips work well?
Are some more robust in terms of features vs others?
+ a reliable vendor link would help.
🙂

I've got a solderless chip (the matrix). It took a while for me to set it up so that it doesn't move (had to get a longer bolt. But now it works great.

As far as The Matrix modchip goes, does it support all things that the solder ones do?

Is there any app that can run on a modded Xbox that'll turn it into a full-fledged Windows client (like SAMBA for Linux?). Just wondering - I don't want my Xbox to be a PC-emu if I mod it.

What does a modchip for the XBox do? Is it like modding a Playstation? I.E. you can play copied games? Just curious.

<--non XBox owner.

If you do put a mod chip in, I dont think you can play on live.....just to let you know

I think there is a solderless chip that has a switch so when yoiu want to play live you just turn it off, when you want to play music or whatever else then turn it on.

Who has the Matrix chip for the cheapest price???

doesn't matter what chip you get. The features are almost all the same. The BIOS is the thing that matters. Make sure whatever chip you get, its flashable so you can change to newer BIOS to get new features. And try to get one with a 512k bios chip...the matrix has only a 256k. Supposedly newer BIOS releases are going to be 512k but it hasn't happened yet.

Doesnt matter what chip you get - if you are installing it yourself, get the one you actually think you can install without frying your box. If you do plan on playing live, you'll have to install a switch on your xbox (switches do not come included with modchips, though). The switch will enable you to 'switch' between BIOSes - the XBOX bios and whatever bios you choose to run with your mod (such as xecuter evo etc). You cant just put the mod chip in and start playing your "backup" games. If you are going to do this yourself, I highly reccomend checking out Xbox-Scene and their forums.
