Best X79 motherboard

I've been looking and I've found conflicts between the best X79 boards.

Currently I'm running an ASUS Sabertooth X79. However, I've been reading that the EVGA X79 Dark is a much better board. Anyone have any insight on this?

My requirements are Photoshop, BF4, Star Citizen and quite a few other games (I'm a junkie with over 200 games.) I will be overcocking (currently at 4.0 GHz and looking to get to 4.4 or higher)

... overcocking ....

What's your reason for wanting to switch boards? Just looking for a higher OC? "Better" can be pretty subjective.

I've seen quite a few people here with top-end builds using a RIVE. One of the most expensive X79 boards if not the most expensive (I forget).

I don't think changing boards at this point in time is wise, though, unless you're buying used.

Sabertoof x79 is quite good.
I highly doubt EVGA board is better.
If you mainly game..I'd recommend Haswell.
4790K + m7 Formula.
...before someone says "x99" ..no
IPC is lower on x99
By the time you spend that $500 on a new board, you could have a new setup that's better for gaming.

I haven't seen many X79 boards up for sale used. Unless on Amazon or ebay. Even then they're overpriced.

I originally thought of upgrading to an X99 but then I saw the benchmarks weren't all that much better than a 4790K. I think at some point a 4790K is in my future but just not right now.

If you go to the EVGA forums of course theyer's is number one (fan boyz) as stated the RE4, depending on the chip then a RE4B.
A SabertoothX79 should do well but probably will not give you bleeding edge, certainly should be a great high end board. If you want the best you will pay for it. Do remember the original RE4 are out of warranty so you may lean towards the RE4 B as there newer.
I had an Asus X79 server board(think it was WS) it seemed to over clock well, literally I plugged everything off my RE4 into it let it boot and my chip under water over clocked to 5Mhz no issue's.

Rampage IV black edition is the best, from what I have heard. And also very pricey.

If you:re looking at sabertooth, which is a really nice choice, you should also check out Asrock x79 extreme9.

I've been running the X79 sabertooth for 3+ years now. My 3960x has been stable at 4.6 the entire time but will boot at 5 Ghz. It's been a rock solid MB.

I liked my x79 saberfoot..
eh..I probly could RMA it..but what's the use?
1st i'd have to get rid of all that LET bah..
then ..screw it..That one was my fault.
