Only one i have owned is the ASUS P6X58D-E which is one of the latest boards in the X58 line up, and it's an amazing board really.

32nm 6 core support.
USB 3.0
16+2 phase VRM.. which is just batshit insane..
3-way SLi and Quad fire supported..
I was able to maintain a Bclk of 210 without any other tweaks such as PCI-E OC or other work arounds to maintain a stable Bclk!

Supports newer memory.. running 1600mhz Kingston Hyper X Fury Blue's (1.5v CL10 rated) had them all the way up to 2000mhz on 1.7v !
 
The Gigabyte GA-X58-UD5 is a great one. Got one of those at launch, ended up picking another one up a little while back for a Xeon X5660. OCed to 4.25 GHz with 12GB RAM and my reference powercolor r9 290. I am currently lending it to my sister, and it is still working well enough.
 
You got the right one (ASUS P6X58D-E). I have the Sabertooth and it doesn't overclock as well. Have had several of Gigabyte GA-X58-UD7's and they also don't overclock as well.

This. Really upset that I sold mine actually. I had the base P6T at one point too but the DX was nicer; I still have a water block for the chipset that I never installed.
 
I've had 3 or 4. Asus P6T Deluxe V2, Asus P6T6 WS Revolution, Asrock X58 Extreme. I think I had an MSI one at some point too.
 
The only one i've had experience with, Asus P6X58D Premium, but it's been fine. Bought it when it was first released and its been a good board.
 
I had an E 760 A1 Rev 1.0 board. Currently using a Gigabyte UD7, and I have a spare EVGA E 770. Between the 760 and UD7, the 760 was better. I do still use my Asrock X58 Extreme, the first one released in that series. Currently thinking about an 8700K platform.

Classified e760, Asus ROG IV, Asus P6T7SC if you needed more PCI-E 16X electrical, etc.
Have a ROG IV running a W3520 at 4.4GHz with 3.6GHz uncore at 1.35V, dual 680SLI and original Seasonic 1000W Gold PSU since early 2010. (originally had dual 480 "fermi" cards, swapped for 580s then 680s) 12GB RAM and upgraded to 24GB which wasn't officially supported but works with less aggressive timings. The W3520 or i7 920 was like the Celeron 300A for overclocking and fun if that's what you like. 🙂
 
Not the best, but worked very, very solidly 24/7/365 for years - Gigabyte EX58-UD3R.
Had a bunch of those running i7 920 D0s.

Still working as far as I know!

That board might be one of the best ones overall anyway, as I recall.
 
Im curretly using ASRock Extreme3 X58 motherboard and its just fine. Waiting for my x5650 to start overclocking. SATA 3, USB 3.0, active cooler on VRM...

+ 1 on the P6T. I've had mine up and running since 2009 (V1?). I've got a Core i7 920 running at 3.6 GHz - not too shabby an overclock. I've upgraded the video cards maybe 5-6 times, currently a GTX 980 and can still play pretty much every game at max settings at 2560x1440 and still get decent frame rates. CPU load (on say GTA V) is usually 50-60%< - not bad for an almost nine year old computer.

Next month I'm gonna build an X299 rig to replace it. I bought a 7820X but I haven't decided on the MB yet. I'm leaning towards an Asus ROG Strix X299 - XE. I've always had really good luck with Asus MBs, all the way back to the A7N8X Deluxe - a true classic.

Still need a GPU. I wanted a Vega but they are impossible to find so I might end up with1070ti or 1080.

I really wanted to stick with Asus for the mobo but all of their X399 boards are E-ATX. This will be my first non Asus board since 2004.
 
what do you have against E-ATX? they're only like an inch or so wider than standard ATX...

now that I think back I had picked up a used ASUS Rampage X58 board with a bundle but never ended up using it. was just too good a deal to pass up and I got a lot of good hardware.

I have a brand new bitspower water block for the P6T Deluxe if anyone is interested.
