One of my New Year's Resolutions is to read more, so I figured I'd ask what a good WWII or general military book is? That is, one that is based on the actual events.

Thanks.

I think Blackhawk Down is the best book I've ever read. You'll understand why when you read it.

For a good historical read of the Pacific war, Eagle Against The Sun by Ronald H. Spector

Also on the pacific war, Edwin P, Hoyt series
Storm Over The Gilberts
To The Marianas
Closing The Circle

A fun but very interesting book to read if you can find a copy.
Secret Weapons of World War II by Gerald Pawle
"The secret war of the scientist - Wheezers and Dodgers, the British called them - is told in this behind-the-scenes account ofthe men whose daring imagination an way-out theories produced some of the most fantastic weapons of WWII"
steam gun, floating airfields, hedgehog, the Great Panjandrum - not that great and others.

Blitzkrieg by Len Deighton is pretty good on the opening days of WWII in Europe.
