Yep, no matter what anyone says, these are the best way to build your stomach muscles.

oh and a good diet doesn't hurt either

don't expect results in a week or two... results happen after a month or two at least

What's the best way to know if you're doing stomach exercises correctly?

I was working out for like 4 months, lost like 30 pounds, eat pretty well, but still have a belly (my waist dropped 2 inches, but the damn gut is still there)

I used to to crunches and sit ups every day, 5 days a week. (I recently have stopped working out and really want to get started on something to lose the gut)

I think the most important thing to have better looking abs is to eat better. CUT out the CRAP you have for your diet. No matter how m any crunches, sit ups you do you will hardly have a impact if you eat too much. IF you just want stronger abbs then sit ups, crunches are the way to go.

But if you wnat the 6 pack look then eat less, work out more, run do things that make you sweat like a mofo. LOTS of sex then ;)

Do sit ups at an incline. Then it makes you work harder. BE STRICT with your sit ups. DO NOT SLACK off and use your arms or head to give you the momentum to start the sit up. Use your abbs.

Do leg raisers. They are good for your lower abbs. But do not do them if you have a weak back. If they hurt your back then its too much pressure on your back. Keep your leg straight if you are flexible enough then slowly raise them up so that your body and legs make an "L" shape. Do 20 reps x 3 sets. YOU will be feeling these in the morning.

Do crunches with a twist with a weight on your chest at an incline.

STAY away from BEER they are BAD for calories!. A typical beer will have aboaut 220 calories. Have 10 and thats NEARLY your whole days calories on one booze up!!!.

Eat better and stay from fatty foods and about 3-5 months your abbs will start to look good. Also it depends on what type of body and % body fat you have right now and where that % fat is loclated.

If you are doing 300 crunches the only thing you are gonna do is hurt your back. I would suggest you look at some magazines for some exercises as there are many different and effective exercises out there. For example my ab routine consists of doing four different routines at the gym. Consisting of 4 sets each going no more than 20 reps for each set. Do I have a 6 pack? Yes, but that is because of doing the right exercises and having the proper diet. Again Diet is probably 80 percent of whats gonna get your abs to show.

Most people already have good ab muscles.
The ONLY thing that matters is percent body fat.
There is no method besides liposuction that will burn fat off one part of the body.
You have to lose it everywhere.

sit ups are very good, and I also recommend leg lifts. Lift your feet 6" off the floor, hold for as long as you can, then start lifting your legs high in the air, in the following pattern: middle, right, middle, left, middle, right, etc, bringing your feet 6" off the floor between every lift. This stuff burns so bad, but it feels so good.

I'm too lazy to read through the thread (hey, at least I admit it! :)), so I don't know if this has already been said.

I find those exercise balls work really well for building ab muscles. They seem to not put much pressure on your lower back, which is why I stopped doing sit-ups / crunches. You just sit on the edge of the ball and basically do sit-ups. The next day your abs will hurt like a mofo!

:D

You missed my point if you are still asing about exercises.
They won't work.
You HAVE to lose body fat.
So, diet or lipo.

Best workout? For what? What are your goals? Do you want strong abs? Definition? Do you have a tremendous gut you want to get rid of? What? Radically different approaches for different goals.

You can't be serious, can you?
I didn't see dezell mention anywhere that he was overweight (but I might have missed it).

Most people DO NOT have good ab muscles. Think of all the scrawny computer nerds that have no ab muscles at all (I have several friends like that ;)). Myself am naturally skinny, but I still work out my ab muscles, because they DO get bigger. Losing body fat is rather pointless if you don't have any to lose to begin with ;)

hang upside down and start doing slow sit-ups, head touching your knees every time. two sets of 25 every night.

*wiggy --> not responsible for any damage to back if done incorrectly. :D
