Well, some people might call them trendy and worthless, but I've had a pair of Timberlands that have lasted a few years and are still going strong. The only thing I've had to replace is the laces.

Why boots? I've worked in a machine shop for over 25 years, and 90% of the employees wear oxfords. Best bang for the buck is Sears "Diehard" oxfords, which go on sale a few times per year for about $40.00. Otherwise, they're close to $70.00, as are any other quality work shoe. The thing that makes them last is the neoprene skin under the crepe sole. It's the same principle as carpet padding. The sole lasts forever, and is slip resistant because it's neoprene, but is VERY comfortable because it has the thick crepe layer.Originally posted by: jaydee
Inside a tool and die cast machine shop. On my feet up to 90% of the day. Would like to be able to wear for outside projects, but not on a consistent basis.
