Best Wireless G Router for home use?

I've got cable modem at home but because we live in an older place our cable comes into the house in a back bedroom, then gets split to the kitchen, then split again to the TV room and finally split AGAIN to get to my computer room. All of these splits cause signal loss, so by the time it gets to my PC I'm dropping packets and such even though it still gets the job done most of the time.

So, to get around all of this as easily as possible I'm thinking about buying something like the LINKSYS WIRELESS G 54MBPS WRT54G 4P CABLE/DSL ROUTER. I've got a BEFSR411 Linksys router right now and it's generally been all good. However, I've read some horrible reviews for the wireless router. They claim that range is terrible, constant dropping of connection, low signal strength and speed. But I don't see any comparable products from other manufacturers. What I will need in the end is something that can go through walls about a distance of 30 feet... will this do the job?

What do you mean that you don't see any comparable products? I have not looked to see what is so special about a WRT54G, but look at dlink, microsoft, belkin, orinco (sp?) and others. Most if not all of these companies have 802.11g routers that will solve your problem.

Link: 802.11a/b/g SOHO Routers & Access Points: Performance

The differences between the first set of graphs to the second represent the performance differences between 802.11b to 802.11g. It might give you a good idea about indoor's distance coverage. Your actual distance might be different. Indoor coverage depends heavily on the envioroment; graphs like this should be used to understand the relation in performance between Wireless hardware. .
