Ok, so we have finally decided to test out going wireless here @ the house. We have the D-Link Dir-655 router and one computer will be hard wired to it. The other computer will be downstairs and we want to connect to it wirelessly. We live in a loft, so when I say downstairs, there is actually nothing but air between the two computers, no walls nor floors. Distance is maybe, 25 feet or so. Also, obviously, we want to have the network as secure as possible.

We know computers pretty well, just totally noobs when it comes to wireless networking!!!

Here is the computer specs that needs the wireless card...can you guys make some suggestions, please? We don't know what difference between a 54M max card and a 300M card is (we assume 300M = faster, but not sure). Also, we assume a PCI card would be better, but again, not sure. Please help?

Asus P5Q Pro mobo
Vista x64
12Meg internet connection.

TIA as always fellas!

A good balance between price and performance is this 802.11g pci card.

If you really need draft_N, card buy the matching one offered by the same Vendor as the Router.

Make sure that your computer downstairs is able to take a full height wireless card.
