I don't have too much experience with wireless routers offhand(my one at home has been working fine for so long I don't even remember its model number); but, to the best of my knowledge, it makes absolutely no diffirence that you are trying to connect an apple laptop vs. an x86 of some flavour. My advice would be to check out the usual spots for general router recommendations and go with the one that gets good comments (or get a Linksys WRT54G, because embedded Linux devices are fun to hack about with).
