Ok, I have a wireless 802.11b network in my house. The router is a XAVi wireless product which has behaved extremely well. I bought this and a no-name USB wireless adaptor as a package from my ISP (80? and I got a wireless router with 4 10/100 rj-45 ports and a USB adaptor, it was a great deal so I decided to try it out) now, I added another computer to the network which resides in the basement ... SO, i go to my local computer show and go with a belkin wireless usb adaptor, I go downstairs, install the software, install the adaptor and type in my 128bit wep encryption passphrase. I reboot the machine (winME) and as I boot up I notice that my wireless sign strengh and quality SUCK! I played around a while and couldn't find a solution so I bought a ~5m USB cable and plugged it into the adaptor so I could move it around more freely, but still I get HORRIBLE signal quality which gives me intermitent internet/lan activity. Now, I am going to try and buy another USB adaptor to see if I have more luck with this one, but I was wondering ... what brand and what model (I live in Spain, so look at european products)
RESUME:
WHAT IS THE BEST BRAND/MODEL FOR A USB OR PCI WIRELESS 802.11b NETWORK ADAPTOR?
(I was thinking either 3Com or NetGear ... )
