Best wired only router?

My uncle is asking me to get him a router but he doesn't need or I guess want a wireless router (I'll have to talk to him more about that). I imagine these kind of routers aren't very popular these days.hehe. Can someone recommend a good one with at least 4x gigabit ports, 1x wan port.
Most I see only have 100mbit ports.

How technical are you or your uncle? The only wired router with gigabit ports that I'm aware of (and which is in a typical consumer price range) is the Ubiquiti EdgeRouter, but it might be overkill:

Otherwise I'd get just a wireless router with gigabit ports and turn wireless off - I have a DIR-655 operating as my "external" firewall in that capacity, though I am toying with replacing it with the EdgeRouter or maybe the model above it.
 
If it was me and one of my relatives I'd go /w a standard router and just turn off the WiFi. You never know when their needs/paranoia might change. The paranoia isn't a jab, I just have personal experience /w a family member who is paranoid about cell phones & WiFi signals.
 
Thanks for taking the time to respond guys. Yeah, i'm probably going to just get him a Asus RT-N16 or RT-N66U and just turn the wireless off if I can. I'm pretty sure shibby tomato will let you disable wireless. But I think I just want to leave the stock firmware on there for him. It will probably be easier for him.
I don't know if it's paranoia or if he just thinks he will save money by not having a wireless router. I still have to talk to him more about that.
 
Show him the price of Wireless cards, and explain that adding a $5 component to already existing plastic box does not change the price.

It is much cheaper to maintain one line of production and out the $5 component in then to maintain two line of production (this why the few wire only that are on market are more expensive).

No need for 3rd party firmware, all Wireless Router Wireless aspect can be disabled with one check mark (you can download the manual of the Router of you choice and show him the "Big Secret".😛

The Asus n66 is a very good choice.

Yes, and no, Jack. The availability of third-party firmware should be considered nearly essential these days. When (if?) your chosen router / device, is found to have a gaping, exploitable security hole, or even a backdoor, then the ability to flash a tested third-party firmware can save your bacon. Granted, they're not flawless either, but they're generally better than stock.
