I am looking for the best web interface to configure stuff i wanna be able to disable things that i don't want and not have everything done for me.
i don't want any reliance on windows or desktop software to use the router

this will be for a business cable modem and 4 linux pc's

anyone tryed one of these routers ?
any other gigabit wired routers for cheaper or have better features ?
i'm not exactely sure what features i might wanna make sure the router has before i buy it

if you are already using linux, I would get a good Gig switch and run iptables (or smoothwall, I hear it's got a good WebUI). There are no consumer routers that can compete with the functionality or reliability of a linux PC based router.

Here's another one -- the Linksys RV0041 , but it isn't cheap.

I only have experience with the D-Link DGL-4300, and it's been good - performance & stability; no Windows software needed as with most routers. It's the wireless version of the DGL-4100, and can sometimes be found at around the same price as the DGL-4100, and will tend to have higher re-sale value.

The Netgear's WAN performance spec would concern me -- maybe they're for higher-end security features, but otherwise they look low to me for a modern router. The D-Link can certainly do better, though not necessarily with the same security (esp. VPN encryption).

There are also some negative user reviews:

The gigabit part won't really help with the router part, so a better configuration, for typically more money (assuming a higher-end router) and space and wallwarts, might be a dedicated router with a dedicated gigabit switch. I ended up with a separate 8-port DGS-1008D switch myself, which makes the DGL-4300's gigabit switch basically useless to me at this time. If you forsee potentially needing additional gigabit ports, then this is probably the better approach.

That said, as bundled products, I think the DGL-4300/DGL-4100 are decent choices.

In addition, you seem to be concerned about the router feature set -- for this I'd recommend downloading the router manuals and firmware update notes, and reading them. Another alternative to the feature-richer software router approach would be third-party firmware such as DD-WRT, and one of their recommended devices, as can be seen in their FAQ. These would typically be 10/100 of course, and need to be paired with a separate GbE switch, but could give you more features (but you'd need to check the details -- each device can have some unique features).

The best Giga Router is a Good Regular Router with Jumbo frame capable Giga Switch.

There is No reason to get a combo.

You save on a Plastic Box and you get compromised (and rather expensive) solution.

For a Good Giga switch look at the SMC Entry Level Giga Switches.
