best website to keep a photo gallery?

for some reason photobucket sticks out in my mind, what's the easiest and best one to use other?

If you're talking about an actual photogallery, then I'd say Anubis's rootminus1

I think, since he uses coppermine, each user can have a browseable gallery, which is not possible with bbzzdd.

deviantArt will help get you exposure, but it's slow and their stability is notoriously poor.

I like the way pbase.com looks and how it is organized

I'll have to second Ross' suggestion. Your own website and image script will be more versital than any of those sites. As you can see the good stuff costs money, so I suggest you pay a bit and get the best... your own website 🙂

Get your own host from a variety of places and then setup simpleviewer..it always gets oohhhs and aaaahhs from everyone

It isn't that expensive either

Grab a domain from namecheap.com and get some nice yearly plan for hosting. You can EASILY do this for probably $25/year or less
