I simply go by what people are saying on this and two other forums that I frequent. There is usually a lot of variation in opinions but I can still get a pretty good sense of whether I will like the game or not.

I have yet to find a major review site that has consistently been reliable and unbiased after about 2004. It's amazing how almost every high profile game gets uniformly high ratings and frequent "best game of all time" accolades these days.

I just check metacritic for a good average score, and if it's high enough I'll check out a vid review at gamespot, IGN, or gametrailers as they usually have good gameplay vids. Then if all the ATers say it's pretty good then I'll probably spring on it. That's what I did with Dead Space and I'm glad I got it.

Its funny but ZP highly negative in scope. Too negative to take a review serious wether the game is good or not. But then thats probably his intent from the beginning but for the newb it could be taken as pure unbiased truth. IMO ZP is not a good source for a game review. If you want a good chuckle for the negative side of any game then yeah its good for that. Just my opinion anyway.

gamerankings takes the average of a whole bunch os sources, i like gamesradar too, and also gametrailers to see actual gameplay footage.

You know what, I like www.strategyinformer.com, they don't just do strategy games. IMO the most accurate reviews are from people I know personally :)

and yeah, gamerankings is good, but weren't they bought by gamespot?

I'll glance through 1up but that only gives me a base on how the game could be. I tend to listen to Shacknews reviews more. No rating. Just info.

The Fallout 3 review is pretty spot on from what I've played so far.
